![]() ![]() New features for product design and visualisation ![]() Substance 3D Painter 8.1 includes a number of new features targeted towards product design, including support for the Adobe Color Engine (ACE) colour-management system used in Photoshop and Illustrator.ĪCE, provided as an alternative option for colour management to the more VFX-centric OpenColorIO, makes it possible to use ICC profiles for accurate colour calibration of monitors and print output. ICC profiles can be automatically extracted from imported images, or embedded in exported texture maps, and users can save and reuse colour management settings as. The update also adds support for physical size in Substance materials: something first introduced in sibling application Substance 3D Sampler earlier this year. Paint along path allows you to create paths and curves in the 3D viewport making strokes more precise and editable. The change is intended to make it easier to match the look of real-world materials, with users now able to visualise scale by toggling a viewport grid beneath the model being textured. The path tool works exactly like the regular brush and retains all its properties, but unlike brush strokes, it is created by placing points or vertices which allow you modify any part of your path at any timey whether it be stroke position, alpha, brush or material properties. The path tool works on paint layers and effects. You can create as many paths as you like on any given layer or effect. Aside from editing global parameters per path, it is also possible to edit individual vertex parameters, like making them smooth or pointy, as well as modifying their pressure to make a path thinner or more faded, depending on whether pressure controls are set to size or flow.
